We had a speaker Sunday night that had never spoken to our congregation before...it would be okay with me if he never does again. His message was wonderful... the delivery left a sour taste in some of our mouths. Mine included. He talked about Pentecostal women as stringy, oily haired women at Wal Mart in jean skirts and flip flops with a sour look on their faces. I don't know where he has been the last 20 years. The most beautiful women in the world are not super models they are Apostolic Pentecostal women. Yeah sometimes I go to Wal-Mart in my flip flops and jean skirt but so what. My hair is fixed and is ALWAYS clean. I do not go into Wal Mart trying to make eye contact with all of the men in the store and smile because some perceive that as flirting. Anyway here is my beautiful Pentecostal child who receives complements on her appearance everytime we leave the house. Does this hair look stringy to you? Okay enough of my soapbox. Well just one more thing I am 4th generation Pentecost (who cares I know) and I have never seen my mother, grandmother, or great grandmother with stringy hair. Oh well I know you are supposed to overlook somethings and I do think he was trying to be funny. It's not nice to make fun of people who are trying to do everything they can to be obedient. Okay I am done now.
Isn't she just a doll?

Jaden's picture...I am amazed at how quickly they get things....I barely gave the child any instructions as with Sophie and stepped back. I did not do any cropping to this picture. First try and he did it perfectly! I'm fixing to put these kids to work:)

Ok Yikes! I've heard that statement used by preachers many times ...however ... I have to agree to "some" extent ... but it's only in the wording of the statement and classification of it that it needs to be said. I agree, I am not one to leave the house without fixing up a little, even if it's to the McDonalds drive through ... BUT ... there are a few out there who DON'T care what they look like and will go out looking whatever kind of way ... BUT the preachers making these bold statements need to use some classification instead of grouping ALL apostolic women in the same vat! Majority of women don't sport the oily, stringy, non-cared for hair look (they don't care) ... But those of us who do care ... take the time to look nice before going to "Walmart", knowing that we are representing not just our "insides" to a lost and dying world but also our "outsides" which is identified right off, before we open our mouths - ha!
Yes ... Ms. Sophie ... adorable! And great work Mr. Jaden on the photography ... I can't imagine why your first work of art would be of a deer though ... hmmmm ... (smile) ... keep up the good work!
Great post Allison ... and for standing up for "us"!
