The wedding day.....

So Sophie my 4-year old was playing dress up yesterday. She comes in the kitchen wearing her beautiful white princess dress. "I am going to wear this to my wedding," she says. "Honey it will be too small by the time you get married," I reasoned. To which she replied," I'll just have to get married tomorrow then." She goes on to say,"Four year olds are supposed to get married. I'll just have to tell Drew we are getting married tomorrow." OOOOOKKKKKKaaaayyyyy. I try to drop the subject. The wedding thing came up a few more times throughout the day I thought okay we will just pretend along with her.

This morning when she got up she asked her daddy where he was going. He told her he was going to work. She cried out, "You can't I am getting married today at 1:00 to Drew and you have to be there." Oh Lord. We asked her if Drew knew about this. She said,"No, I will tell him and he will invite all of his friends to be there." Jerry asked her where they were going to live. She said, "Just down the road in Nashville for awhile then we will move off somewhere." Chicky baby has it all planned out. I asked her if she had a preacher lined up to do the ceremony. She said," No, you can just marry us." I told her I could not that she had to have a minister marry them. She told me to call Bro. Rickenbaker because he was a preacher and he could do it. All of the time she is telling us this she is dead serious. She is not playing. I went into the living room and asked Jerry to hold me. I looked at him and said, "She's going to leave home when she is twelve if we don't watch it." She invited Jaden to her wedding. She called her Grandma while we were making our morning delivery and asked if she could come for breakfast. Grandma told her she could. I thought great this will get her mind off of her wedding today at 1:00. She stayed at Grandma's and Grandpa's for most of the day. Jerry had alerted them to the wedding plans.

Jaden and I made a list of groceries that we needed and got ready to go grocery shopping. I let Jaden plan one meal and decided to call Sophie and see what she wanted one night. So I ring them up and talked to Grandpa for a minute before Sophie gets on the phone. He told me that Sophie had invited them to the wedding. Shoot! I was hoping she would forget about that. While I am talking to him I hear her tell him to get dressed for the wedding. So Grandpa and I talk about this for awhile and I tell him just not to let her know when it is 1:00. So I finally remember to ask Sophie what she wants for dinner. She says to me," I have a wedding today remember." I said, "Sophie this is next week I am talking about. What do you want for supper one night?" She says,"Mom, I am marrying Drew today." I said, " Okay, that's great but what do you want for supper one night next week." She sighed and said," Mom, I am marrying Drew today I will not live with you anymore." Finally I put a stop to it. "Sophie, you are four years old you are not marrying Drew today. You can not get married when you are four. You can't get married until you are through with college." She said ," Okay then I want Pizza." WHEW!!!!

So baby girl will be making pizza from scratch next week and I get to have her under my roof for a few more years.

Family Reunion - Memorial Day Weekend

This Memorial Day weekend I had the privilege of being with my Mother's side of the family minus Jerry, Rhona, Rene, and Riley. Jerry and Riley had to work. Rhona and Rene live near Miami and it was just to far to come this time. Below is a picture of my Nanny and Paw Paw's great grandkids minus one...Anthany...he is napping he shows up in some pictures later. 9 boys and 3 girls. Mason, Christopher, Kennedy, Peyton, Sean, Jaden, Zachary, Cooper, Naomi, Westley, Sophie, and Anthany. They all came from 4 girls. Elizabeth has 4 (3 boys 1 girl), Andrea has 3 (2 boys 1 girl), Kimberly (3 boys), and I of course have 2 ( boy and a girl). There are four more cousins that havent started having kids yet! No telling how many Rhona, Riley, Gabe and Farrah will contribute. Right now though Rhona is the only one married, she and Rene are not ready for kids yet. They have been married a year.Paw Paw saying the blessing before we eat.Nanny, Paw Paw, Uncle Eddie, Sam the dog, and Anthany who woke up from napping. Kids played baseball in the front yard the ENTIRE time we were together! Batter UP!
Jaden made home runs left and right. One time he smacked the ball so hard it got stuck in the top of the tree. Uncle Larry had to shoot it down with the BB gun. He shoots he scores! Jaden and Cooper love playing baseball together.Cooper's right foot is broken and he has a bright green cast up to his knee. This did not stop him for a second. He did not sit down on third base because he was tired...I asked him to so I could get a picture of him sitting on a stump.The guys watching the kids play baseball. I made a big mistake in regards to Sophie and Naomi. Sophie came up to me crying on the porch and told me Naomi hit her. I told her to hit Naomi back. Sophie said okay and went to find Naomi. Naomi was up to bat and Sophie walked up and smacked her. I yelled Sophie! She looked at me and said "You told me too!" She was embarassed and started crying. Of course the mistake was all mine. We tell the kids if someone hits you hit them back...we mean right then not 5 minutes after the fact. Our kids tend to get picked on because they are bigger than most kids and Jaden is very sweet spirited and won't do anything about it. They have been beat up...so this is why we say hit back just so the other kid gets the idea that it is not okay. Well next time I will be more specific. Naomi has 3 brothers so she has to hold her own all of the time but I think Sophie caught her off guard. Well hopefully one of these days I will get this parenting thing down. And please don't think I think hitting is okay...quite the opposite...it's not okay.Mom and Aunt Nilah having a little visit on the front porch.Sophie spent most of her day on the porch holding Kimberly's puppy Rosie.Okay moving on this is Sunday at the park where we are celebrating Anthany's 2nd birthday.

This is what you look like after you have had the kids all by yourself for a road trip for 5 days! I sure was glad to see Jerry and to get out of the car. A lot of togetherness in confined spaces.
Loved being with my family. My favorite part was the church service Sunday morning at Uncle Eddies church. We all sang, worshipped, prayed, laughed, and were together. We are very blessed to say that all of us are in church and on fire for God. In no small part due to the faithfulness and love for the Lord that Nanny and Paw Paw have shown and lived throughout their and our lives. Uncle Eddie taught and preached that morning, he also played the guitar and started worship. Aunt Nilah led worship. Farrah sang a special. Jason and Elizabeth taught Sunday school for Jadens age. Jasons mother taught the smaller ones. Thank you Lord for all of your many blessings.

Field Day 2008

Jump roping. Jaden practiced and practiced for this event. His favorite place to practice was in Grandma and Grandpa's living room on the hardwood floors. His practice paid off. He was first place in the boys and had a jump off with this little girl (Taylor) and won the event in his class.

Okie Dokie. It's one day. Come on. Well maybe they will approve of the style next year. Maybe we should run it by them first, after all they are seven and cooler than us. O.K. I'll stop now.

Soggy Animals and Happy Kids

So I know I said in an earlier post that we would not be going to the zoo... well we did anyway. Last night Jerry told me that he thought the weather was going to go south and miss us. Well the thunderstorms did ...the rain however showed up in full force. After church I ran to Wal Mart and bought all the supplies I thought we were going to need. This morning I had to run back to Wally world and buy Sophie a raincoat with a hood. So to sum up our experience:

1-raincoat $7.00
3-tickets to the zoo $15.00
1-hot pink t-shirt I had to have for the zoo $7.00

Getting stuck in wreck traffic and hear 4 giggling voices putting on puppet shows with their wet socks-Priceless.

We ended up eating lunch back at the school and I had the privilege of having a little boy (that rode with me to the zoo) ask if he could sit by me at lunch. That was very special to me because this little guy is raised by his grandparents. From what I understand his parents were not fit. He is a very spirited little guy and he made me feel like the Queen of the class when he asked to sit by me.

Pruney toes apparently are the funniest things going right now. One of the little guys in my car took his shoes off first and declared that he had Grandpa feet. We are all sporting this funny phenomenon and we had fun getting them. We saw all of the animals, carried umbrellas, and splashed in puddles. Who could ask for more...Not me!

Yard Sale pile is growing

Well it has finally happened. I have cleaned out our closet. I will not be posting before and after pictures:) Good news is the yard sale pile is growing... bad news is I need to go shopping for a Summer wardrobe. I hate shopping! Oh well maybe I will make enough from this yard sale that I won't mind it as much:) I am not great at buying clothes that look good on me. My mom is the best one to go shopping with because she will tell me the truth. Jerry is pretty good about picking out clothes for me too. Sales people at stores and random shoppers that I ask for opinions...not so much help. Oh well...at least the closet looks better:)

I love you....

12 years ago today I heard the beautiful words I love you from my Jerry for the first time. The funny thing is the next sound I heard was a dial tone. We had only met 9 days prior. I immediately dialed him back....he didn't answer. I thought great another psycho. I had just dealt with one of those the November before. The next day he called and acted like nothing happened. I played along and then the stinker told me he loved me again and he hung up on me again. I just sat in shock and stared at the phone. One of my co-workers walked by and asked me if I was okay. When I got home that night my mom and dad thought that Jerry was fixing to be history. They thought we had a huge fight. My dad finally said, "Honey, what happened." I said, "He told me he loved me." They died laughing. They couldn't believe that it had made me so mad. Mom said,"Phew we thought he was a goner." I wasn't mad I was just having a little trouble processing the whole thing. Could you blame me after he kept telling me and hanging up? Dad said, "Well what are you going to do about it?" I said, "Well I guess I am going to tell him I love him too if he will quit hanging up on me." And later that night I did and it was not because he told me...He said he kept hanging up so I would not just tell him back because he had told me. He asks me still to this day what I would have said to him if he would have answered the phone that night. Well Stinker you should have answered the phone to find out:)!

Dumb

Well I think I have officially lost my marbles. I called and put an ad in the paper saying that I was having a Yard Sale Saturday. How dumb am I? This is a very busy week at school of which I have to be there 2 days. Just got word that my Grandma is in the hospital and the Dr. thinks it is her heart. Had a friends daughter with me all day today because her Grandma had a heartattack Saturday. I will probably have her Wednesday too (which will keep Sophie occupied). I'm just saying... will be spread a little thin this week. I am praying that the Doctor will find out tomorrow that Nanny is okay and send her home. She had pneumonia last week and suffers from emphysema. She has never smoked a day in her life and struggles with this illness. Although I would never know it without Mom telling me because she does not complain about anything. Nanny was a nurse and I think that is why she is so sick this weekend. She just thought she was having trouble due to the afore mentioned illnesses. Her Doctor told her that he really thought it was her heart. Well I'm not sure who is right. I am just going to talk to Jesus about making her all better. She is a strong healthy woman who never sits down. Well I better go fling some more things into a Yard Sale pile.

More Project updates...Jadens closet...Scary Scary

I bit the bullet today and tackled Jadens closet. I am through and I have to say still of sound mind and body. He will be very excited to see this when he gets home from school. Mainly because he didn't have to clean it. His room is my main project for this month. Hopefully Saturday we will be finished with all of the painting. I have done the walls but need to do doors, baseboards, and ceiling. The mural for the end of his room will probably have to be done after school is out...so it may not be complete until next month.

Crossover from Tiger to Wolf

Last night was the Crossover ceremony for the Cub Scouts. First they had a meeting which was quite entertaining with each group adding something to the night. Songs, skits, and corny jokes from the scout leaders made it fun for me. The songs and skits were from the kids the corny jokes from the adults. Then came the awards part which always takes a while because these little guys work hard for patches and belt loops and they usually earn quite a few. Finally after 1 1/2 hours we get down to the reason we were there. We watch our boys go from Tigers to Wolves and cross over a bridge with their parent. It was cute and Jaden was wired up and excited when he got home.

When the leader holds up two fingers in Cub Scouts you are supposed to hold up two fingers and be quiet. Mr. Hedden (the scoutmaster) found himself a little aid in getting the boys attention :) Reciting the Cub Scout Oath.

Had to take Jaden to the Dermatologist yesterday. He has Poison Ivy. The little man has had it for about 5 days. I found out about it Monday night. Poor thing. 3 medicines to take for it. Hopefully he is feeling relief today.
