I'm not trying to be ugly but...

Has anyone ever said this to you and then said something really really ugly. Or "I'm not trying to be mean", "no disrespect intended", or my new favorite "I'm not like this but... ". It's funny that we think that saying those phrases first is going to make everything okay, and the person we are talking to think that we are normally beautiful, sweet, respectful and usually do everything proper. Nothing has happened and no one has said this to me lately... just something I was pondering while cutting up okra for supper. Ummm fried okra got to go!

What do you splurge on?

I have a question...when you have extra money that is all yours that you can do anything you want with...what do you do? Do you spend it on clothes, scrapbook supplies, camera equipment, antiques, shoes, food, purses, knick knacks for the house, manicures and such? I don't know you tell me?

He's Myrtle the Turtle

I'm not sure how you tell whether a turtle is male or female but Jaden says he's male and his name is Myrtle. My great grandma's name was Myrtle. I'm pretty sure it's a girls name but these days maybe there are a few boys out there with this name. I know at least one turtle with it. Could be in next years top 100 names for boys...okay probably not but stranger things have happened. Anyways...Myrtle likes tomatoes. We have found him twice this summer in our garden happily munching away at our beautiful tomatoes. Last week Jerry brought him in to show Sophie. They put him in a box on the front porch and have been feeding him tomatoes ever since. Today is the day of Myrtles release. I am just waiting on Jaden to get home from his grandmas and we are going to let Myrtle go... somewhere far away from our garden. Jaden and I REALLY like tomatoes. So if you see any turtles around your garden MOVE them or they will take a bite out of your pretties. See you around Myrt.

Psalm 34

Notice all the action words in this passage. There are easy 1-2-3- steps on how to live.
7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Hi guys glad you are here.
8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Do you really trust him?
9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any

The things that you want are they good things or just things?
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
See we don't have to try to figure it out on our own. He will teach us.

Ouch... this one is hard especially when that idiot on the interstate cuts you off.

More good instruction that is easy to say your going to do and hard to actually do when there is conflict.

This makes it easier to know he is looking at us and hearing us when we cry.

the earth.

17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
Have you cried out to the Lord lately?
18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Is your heart broken or bitter? How is your spirit hard or contrite?
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
Whatever you are going through and it may be alot ...this scripture says the Lord will deliver you out of it all. The Word never says anything that is not true.
20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.


Where are you today? If you feel like life is out of control and there is nothing you can do about it reread this passage. Write down all the things you can do. Do them and then let God do what He does.

You can bless the Lord, keep praise in your mouth, make your boast in the Lord, magnify, exalt, seek, look to him, cry, fear him, taste, see, trust, fear him, seek, come, keep thy tongue from evil, lips from speaking guile, depart, do good, seek peace and pursue it, cry, and have a broken heart and contrite spirit.

And the Lord will hear, deliver from fears, hear, save from ALL troubles, encampeth around, deliver, will not let you want, see and hear you, come nigh, deliver, keepeth, and redeemeth.

So go on do your part and HE WILL DO HIS....he has to he said so. He does not lie...EVER!

A encounter of the swine kind

Went to meet a friend of mine and grab her little girl to play with Sophie today. We met on the side of the street because she had been out at yard sales. While we were pulled over, 2 ladies in an Dodge Intrepid asked if we knew who lived in the house a few doors down. My friend knew someone near there and asked why. They said,"Well someones pig has gotten out and was walking down the road and stopped in our yard. " Okie Dokie where is the pig now? Okay are you ready for this....

Ever seen a pig in an Intrepid? I have and it was hilarous...It made my week I tell you!I turn around and see this little guy. For you city slickers this a calf. This calf is a half of a football field away from me and I see no fence. I thought he had gotten out because there was no fence anywhere. After a few minutes I see that there is a chain of some sort around his neck. So I guess I was okay just leaving him and not throwing him in the minivan tell we found his owner. I would have put him in the van to being inspired by the pig rescuers.

Did you really think this was a good idea?

We have a lot of geniuses here in our Town of Ashland City. Obviously whoever wrote this was not one of them. Is it a good idea anytime to say fall in our town? It is especially not when your downtown has been torn to pieces trying to beautify it. There are a few other banners and they say Autumn in the Town of Ashland City or just Town of Ashland City. My mother-in-law said, "Why not just welcome." And why not? Well if you come here just be careful and enjoy our Autumn.

Thursday Fun!

Jaden came home with his Cross Country Uniform today. He loved the fact that his name was on the back.

We stayed in town tonight after I picked him up from Cross Country because I had to be back at the school at 6. We decided to grab a bite at Tequila's and make a date out of it. I love this kid!

This sign was inside the restaurant. Memories came flooding back to me from my childhood. You are probably thinking WHAT or you may have the same kind of memories of Saturday morning wrestling. We did not have a T.V. from the time I was 8 until I was 12. My Nanny and Paw Paw did and when we would visit we would sit down and marathon watch Saturday morning cartoons...that is until Dad came in and started switching back and forth to wrestling on Channel 5 . My sister and I would beg and plead for him to turn it back to Fat Albert. The most interesting thing to us about the wrestling was when they would come out wearing these face masks. It intrigued me. Why would grown men not want to show their face? Where they hot in there? Who were those guys really? So anyway this sign made me think back to that. Love you Daddy!

The only boy who could ever reach me was the son of a preacher man

This my friends is the sweetest man on earth. Oh I know what you are thinking that I'm mistaken and that your husband is. Sorry your wrong. I know that some of you have great husbands...they are I know them and they are my friends but I got the BEST. Case and point when my family is here he LOVES it. He fixes the whole crew breakfast, lunch, and dinner and watches all the kids while the girls go shopping. That is just a drop in the bucket to his sweetness.

He had music playing in the kitchen and started dancing with me...my mom grabbed the camera and started snapping away.

Then our little punkin doodle joined in. Anytime we hug the kids join in.
My sister had watched some of this and walked past my mom and said...I hate her. So after we were through Jerry went and grabbed her for a spin around the kitchen. I'm telling you this guy is AWESOME and back off he's mine.
P.S. My sister really doesn't hate me she's happy that we are happy and she thinks Jerry is Awesome too. Actually if anything ever did happen between the two of us my family would keep Jerry.

Cowboy Bob

Brought home a book from the library on how to draw people. Jaden looked at it for a few minutes then drew this. Good job Buddy. He has named the cowboy Bob.

If life gives you a egg allergy make eggless cupcakes!

Recipe:

1 box of cake mix
1 can of soda (we use sprite because we want our cupcakes to stay pink)

Follow package for temperature and time. Do not add the other ingredients...just cake mix and a can of soda. Ice then decorate. We still have to do that.

I can't get no sleep...

Sophie came downstairs last night (as she does every Monday night while Jerry and I are watching Americas Toughest Jobs) about 5 1/2 minutes after Jerry put her to bed and said, " I can't get no sleep." We threaten and send her back up to bed. When we come up to go to bed Jerry said, " Go look at you daughter who can't get no sleep." I thought she was still awake.

I guess she figured out a way to get some sleep after all. She loves sleeping with this sleeping bag..she hates sheets.

YIKES! IKE

We lost a tree to Hurricane Ike. Ike's friend Gustav made our tree crack through the middle and near the top, but Ike came through and blew our tree down. It is dangling right above Jaden's tree house thats under construction. It was one of our favorite trees and HUGE (tall). Oh well at least no one was hurt and it has not broken anything else...yet:(

Pitiful

We woke up Saturday morning to this....

Sophie and Jaden had been playing in dirt in the backyard Friday afternoon, when a few handfuls of dirt got thrown back and forth. A little dirt got in her eye but it came out before she came in the house. I gave her a shower and washed her hair and soap got in her eyes and she began to fist rub them. That night her eyelid was slightly red. As you can see in the above picture that all changed. I called the nurse and explained what all had happened and she told me she was fine and to just put cold compresses on it through out the day. If it didn't start getting better to come in to the office in a few days. Okay so I decided to take a picture to document the swelling. Sophie up to this point had no idea anything was wrong with her eye. She told me it didn't hurt and she would push on it to prove it. Jerry and I had been really staring at her all morning and asking alot of questions about it to the point she finally said," Why do you keep staring at me? What's wrong?" I said go look in the mirror in the bathroom. Now this child had been up for 2 hours barreling through the house laughing and playing with her brother not a care in the world. She gets one look at this eye and comes in the living room and sits in her brothers lap and in her most pitiful voice says, "Jadey look at my eye." She then lays her head on his shoulder. This is when I tell her I am going to take her picture and why. While I am taking the picture I tell her to smile so she doesn't look so pitiful. She says, "I want it to look pitiful." Okie Dokie.

Weird

Who came up with this? Who bought this and thought it was appropriate to put on the rails at our schools daycare? If I was a little person this would completely freak me out. Why do they put the little kids that have no upper bodies outside? Why can't they come in with the other kids? They can't help it if they have no torso or head. What's even more freaky is I think they are bird feeders. Oh yeah that's not scary to a little kid to see birds attacking little legs in blue jeans. Oh well maybe I am the only one who still has thoughts of what scared the living daylights out of me as a 4 year old. This would have given me pause for about a week. I would have been praying every night for those little legs.
