I'm proud to be apostolic...Jadens picture for the Showcase

We had a speaker Sunday night that had never spoken to our congregation before...it would be okay with me if he never does again. His message was wonderful... the delivery left a sour taste in some of our mouths. Mine included. He talked about Pentecostal women as stringy, oily haired women at Wal Mart in jean skirts and flip flops with a sour look on their faces. I don't know where he has been the last 20 years. The most beautiful women in the world are not super models they are Apostolic Pentecostal women. Yeah sometimes I go to Wal-Mart in my flip flops and jean skirt but so what. My hair is fixed and is ALWAYS clean. I do not go into Wal Mart trying to make eye contact with all of the men in the store and smile because some perceive that as flirting. Anyway here is my beautiful Pentecostal child who receives complements on her appearance everytime we leave the house. Does this hair look stringy to you? Okay enough of my soapbox. Well just one more thing I am 4th generation Pentecost (who cares I know) and I have never seen my mother, grandmother, or great grandmother with stringy hair. Oh well I know you are supposed to overlook somethings and I do think he was trying to be funny. It's not nice to make fun of people who are trying to do everything they can to be obedient. Okay I am done now. Isn't she just a doll?

Whew Mondays...

It's not every Monday... but today... man was it a Monday. I really didn't get much accomplished. Still a little worn out from Sunday. Sundays are without a doubt the most hectic and loaded days of my week. So on Mondays I am recuperating from church. Last Wednesday the kids and I were waiting at the end of the driveway for my mother in law to pick us up for church...we carpool...when a neighbor child rode by on his bicycle and asked the kids what they were doing. They told him they were going to church. He said, " Church is so boring. I am glad I'm not going... church is so boring." He had a smirk on his little 7 year old face. I was going to say something when Sophie handled it. She almost threw down her car seat and said in a very loud voice,"My church is not boring. My class is fun." She kept on muttering under her breath for a few minutes after he was gone that church was not boring. Jerry had to explain to her later that maybe his church was boring. We will have to take Christian to church with us sometime and let him decide. But let me tell you something buddy if my church was boring I would not be so tired on Mondays.

Empty Nest Syndrome

My parents are about to experience this for the first time in 34 years. They are, as I am writing, loading up their babies to go off to college. Farrah for the 3rd time and Gabe is leaving for the 1st time. There will be weeping people...weeping. They are not only going off to college, but they are going off 8 hours away. Andrea will have to represent. She and her three kids are only a few miles away from Mom and Dad... so if they need to hug and love on somebody (other than each other) they can go and grab one of them. Mason may not allow them to grab him. I'm not sure how at 12 1/2 he would feel about that. Cooper on the other hand will welcome a hug and kiss them right on the lips. He is 5 and doesn't worry about being cool...He just is. On the up side I get to see them all tonight because I am halfway between where they live and college. Yippeee! Can't wait to see little brother use his wings, because my parents gave him great roots. Well this is another phase of their lives and I pray that it will be a happy one. I know they will miss their babies. I also know that they are excited about the wonderful things these two will accomplish. So good luck bro and sis. Mom and Dad hold on to each other and the Lord. They will be back before you know it and may bring more with them:)

I want an inexpensive rainbow umbrella

Okay so I have been looking for rainbow umbrellas for a couple of months now at stores. I have just spent 30 minutes on the computer looking for some. Not so much out there people. I see them on the streets where people wait for buses...why can't I find one around here. I did find one at Target but I just don't want to shell out $20.00 for something I will just basically use for a prop. I bought the kids the cutest umbrellas at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago for 3.99. Come on somebody sell a cheap rainbow umbrella already. So dear friends and blog readers if you find a rainbow umbrella for a good deal call me. PLEASE!

Sophie's thought for today

Sophie was sitting in the back reading (looking at) a book. In the midst of this she looks up and makes a profound statement. Get ready for it...."Everybody has eye boogers." I almost wrecked the car. I knew I named that kid Wisdom for some reason. (Sophie means Wisdom). So whatever you are going through today just know that there are somethings that everyone has in common ...nose hair and eye boogers.

We have a Music and Arts Showcase at church for the kids in two weeks. Registration was last night. This is one of Sophie's projects. She took only 4 pictures and got this. She put the camera around her neck and on the first couple of pictures I showed her how to zoom and focus. This picture was all her all by herself! I am so proud! I have been trying to take a good picture of the butterflies myself and they usually don't cooperate this well. So Sophie did it within 4 shots. Good work kiddo!

Registration and Wonderland Closet theme!

This morning was busy busy. Registered for school and found out it starts 15 minutes earlier this year. Not good for this night owl Mom. I don't do mornings very well. Oh well Jerry and Jaden do. After registration Diana invited us over to play. I am so excited we came up with a plan for our booth at Christmas Village. 3 1/2 months early. HALLELUJAH! YEAH! YIPPEE! Now I just have to recruit a bunch of helping hands to hang up all of those beautiful clothes. Please don't run from me at church I may just be coming over to admire your purse or shoes.
